This was introduced in a special assembly on Tuesday which included an explanation of what a general election is and an overview of the main political parties and their manifesto promises.
In the T20 session on Tuesday students 'registered' to vote with discussion centred on the importance of being registered and what the consequences would be if they were not. Summaries of the main party manifesto pledges were displayed around the school which generated discussion and raised awareness.
On Wednesday, a ballot box and voting booth were located in the hall and students escorted in groups to cast their votes. Each person was ticked off the register to replicate the real process.
The results were collated and a declaration of the results took place in assembly including the real national results and our school results which turned out to have been a very representative prediction.
